A couple of church friends compared family history notes while shopping at Winn Dixie and discovered they shared roots back to the Revolutionary War. (Of course, if they shared them back that far, they had common ancestors before that time.)

The Picayune Item is running a feature entitled The Hermitage right now. It tells the story of Eliza Jane Poitevent. I located the 3rd of 4 parts on the web site. I can find no archives with a link to the first two parts. If anyone can locate these, please leave a comment. Otherwise, I'm sure that the paper or the library in Picayune will have copies of this interesting historical feature.
