A post by Janice over at Cow Hampshire made me wonder what gems I might be able to uncover relating to golf's history in Mississippi. I discovered that there was a place called Keller's Green on the Mississippi Gulf as early as 1902 where one could find golfers. The first golf club in the state was called the Great Southern Club and was designed by a man from New Orleans, opening in 1908. You can read more about the history of golf on the Mississippi Gulf Coast at the Gulf Coast Golf Association.

Other current options include California, Colorado, Connecticut, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington. I've actually indexed batches from almost every one of these states and a few others. However, I try to focus mainly on Mississippi.

As an academic librarian, I feel compelled to remind you to always verify information obtained through wikis with recognized authoritative sources. Wikis can be edited by anyone, thus making it very easy for misinformation to be present. (Hat tip to Shawn.)
